Shipping policy

 

Crazy Critters  priority is that our shipping policy is reasonable and transparent for all customers. 

We believe a successful shipping arrangement needs to:

• be simple and easy to understand
  
  
• have accurate prices for customers
  
  
• offer discounts that align with the order value; and
  
  
• be sustainable.

  

Order Cut-Off Times

We will send your order as soon as possible after it has been received.

It is important, that as an online customer, you understand we have a very limited window in which we can send live insects to avoid delays over the weekend. This is to minimise the risk of losses. 

We are now only sending interstate orders on Monday each week to increase the chances of orders arriving the same week. Queensland orders will be sent on Monday and Tuesday. 

ALL orders are subject to our order cut-off time of 9:00 pm for next-day dispatch*.

This means:

Queensland Orders

• Orders placed before 9:00 pm Sunday will be sent Monday.
  
  
• Orders placed after 9:00 pm Sunday until 9:00 pm Monday will be sent Tuesday.
  
  
• Orders placed after 9:00 pm Monday will be sent the following Monday.

Interstate Orders

• All interstate orders will be sent on Monday each week.
  
  
• Orders placed before 9:00 pm Sunday will be sent Monday.
  
  
• Orders received after 9:00 pm Sunday will be sent the following Monday.
  
  
• We will try our best to continue packing and sending interstate orders placed throughout the day on Monday, however, this depends on our capacity on the day.

 

(*Next-day dispatch means means the next day we’re actually shipping… which, for very good “keeping insects alive” reasons, is Monday or Tuesday—not, say, a spontaneous Thursday.)

 

We do not send orders on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday as this increases the chances of live insects being delayed over the weekend.

 

Express Post Service

Please note that the Express Post Service is used to ensure the fastest possible delivery time, once your order has been packed and sent. 

Having express post on your order does not mean that your order will be packed and sent any sooner, so please keep in mind the above order cut-off times when placing your order.

If your order is placed outside of our cut-off times, it will be packed and sent the following week.

 

Shipping Fees

Our website uses live shipping rates in the checkout. This is to ensure our customers are offered accurate shipping charges.

 

Live shipping rates are based on weight and calculated using your postcode. 

 

All post orders are sent express via Australia Post with a tracking number, regardless of order value. Tracking information is updated as soon as it is available.

 

You will receive automated updates via email as your order progresses and you can track your order on the Australia Post website.

 

Shipping Timeframes

Orders are processed and sent out on Monday and Tuesday each week to increase the likelihood of live insects arriving before the weekend.

 

Shipping times may vary depending on your location.

You will receive an email confirmation with tracking details once your order has been shipped.

 

You can also opt-in for delivery updates on the order status page, after finalising your order.

 

Alternatively, you can download the Australia Post (MyPost) app to receive updates on the delivery of your order. 

 

Tracking Information

Australia Post has advised that express post items are not showing "in-between" scans at the moment in an effort to speed up the delivery process.

 

This means on your tracking history you will likely see only three updates: a "received" status followed by "onboard for delivery" once your order has arrived at your local post office, and finally "delivered".

Public Holidays

Whenever public holidays fall during our shipping period (Monday and Tuesday), delays are unavoidable. 

 

We try to extend our daily cut-off times to help you place an order in time for your live insects to arrive before any upcoming public holidays, but this largely depends on our capacity to pack the volume of customer orders.  

 

Please note: any public holidays that change from state to state may also impact when your order arrives.

 

Sending out orders is delayed for all Queensland public holidays, but we may not always be aware of public holidays in your state, so be mindful of this before placing your order.

 

Shipping Restrictions

Crazy Critters aims to provide a range of high-quality live feeder insects that arrive in excellent health with minimal losses. 

 

Live insects are, however, susceptible to stress during transit, and prolonged exposure to fluctuating temperatures increases the risk of loss, especially during any temperature extremes in the Summer / Winter months.

 

Like many other online suppliers, we are limited to sending orders only when the weather permits, i.e. between 5°C and 32°C.

 

In the event of unusually cold / hot weather, we will delay shipping (generally only by 1-2 business days) until more suitable conditions.

 

In this instance, we will contact you by email to notify you of the shipping delay and provide an estimated delivery date.

 

Our experience is when live insects are in transit for more than 5 days, the number of losses increases dramatically.

 

For this reason, we currently do not ship live insects to the following areas:

• Northern Territory; or
  
  
• Western Australia
